Hey there, Zeo-Fans! Poinko here, back with Episode 3 of Zeo's Annoying Adventure Across America! Last time we had fun in Pure's stomping grounds of New York's Palisades Mall(the BIG mall, not the Yuppie mall), and this time we made a stop in the home of beans and tea, Boston Mass.!(I only have a public school level education. Don't blame me. Blame the tax dollars.) Day 1 After the new olympic sport, the 10-Gate Shoeless dash was intorduced, I was eager to give it a try at the airport before leaving for Boston. I swear, one day I'll be just late enough that I actually miss a plane. But for now, I'm 3 - 0! Go me! After a long plane ride(who knew Boston was so far from Texas?) and a not-as-long car trip, I made it to the hotel and checked into the room. Pure was already there, so there wasn't much we could do except wait around for Ech, JD and Chris to show up. So we did just that. We ordered room service for everyone while we waited, and they showed up right as the food did. How's that for timing? So we ate, then we headed downstairs, because Mike Hummel from Upper Deck was down there, and he wanted to duel us. So we went down, introduced ourselves, and he invited us to his room to play. I did pretty bad, but of course, I don't have very many really good cards, so I got somewhat crushed. Pure had forgotten her deck, but JD let her borrow his, and she did fairly well. We sat around and talked for a while after, and then went up to our rooms to get some rest, since Saturday was another big day... hoo boy. Day 2 We got up real early, cause we had to be at the mall bright and early(again) to set everything up for the day. We made it to the mall OK, and got everything set up and we were done by 9 AM. We didn't start until 11, however, but they let people begin coming to the Training Zones by 10:15, so we were busy a little bit earlier than we planned to be. Turnout was pretty good, but there weren't as many people there as were at the Palisades. I think mainly that was due to the fact that the North Shore Mall was decidedly smaller than the Palisades and the weather up there hadn't been that great the past week. While standing around, Dane(ThaBouncer from 247) showed up and said hi, and hung around talking to Pure and I for a while. He's not as wacky in real ife, but he's still a great guy to hang around with. I wanted to take my lunch break with JD so we could go get something nice for Pure for her birthday, but JD's break got changed to a different time, so I had to look for something by myself. I stopped by where he was working at and bounced some ideas off of him. He bounced some back, mostly aiming for my head, but when it was all said and done, I decided to get her a nice card for all of us to sign and give to her that read 'We wouldn't be good at holding down balloons in a parade, because we think how cool it would be to just let it go'. It was perfect. I also wanted to get her a Hello Kitty balloon, but I needed some way to hide it, since Pure and I were working in the same area. So I got the balloon and went into Lane Bryant and got a bag to hide it and the card in and went back to the Training Zone. About an hour later, the lady I got the balloon from came over to the Training Zone and asked if I still wanted to pay for the balloon. I could feel my face turn bright red, cuz I knew that I had forgotten to pay for the balloon! Eep! I followed her off, paid for the balloon, and went back to the Training Zone. Dane came back and forth a few times, and soon the day was over. We all met up at the Registration Zone. Carlos was going to take us all out for dinner, but everyone was so tired, he just handed out Applebees gift cards for $25. Since Applebees wasn't too far from the hotel, we were going to head back there, change, and walk over to Applebees. On the way, we stopped by a Zany Brainy that was liquidating all their stock. They didnt have anything I wanted to buy, so I just hung out by the puppet rack making turtles meow. After that, we walked through the Liberty Mall, and visited a card store that Chris was in the day before, and he said it was really good. We went in and they had a LOT of Yu Gi Oh stuff, like cards and decks, and even some neat little Yu Gi Oh card books that you keep your cards in with characters on the front like Yugi and Kaiba. They didn't have a Joey one, and since Joey is the only good character on the show, I saved my $8.50 and bought a whole bunch of Pokemon stuff, like a Mewtwo kit that you snap together, a large Squirtle figure, and a really neat wall scroll with a bunch of Pokemon on it. They also had a little rack with Pokemon rings on them, and I looked it over, not really caring too much until I noticed they had a Golbat ring. So I asked how much they were, and they were only $1! So I snapped up the Golbat ring, Pure got Charmander, Chris got Bulbasaur, Ech got Bulbasaur, too, and JD got Jigglypuff(form of a Puff!) and we all went to Applebees. While at the restraunt, we ordered too much, and Chris and I worked on putting our kits together. He got a charizard and we raced to see who could put theirs together fastest. I won, but only because Chris dropped one of Charizard's legs on the floor. And even then, he got bonus points for having his actually work when he finished. My Mewtwo's head just kind of rolled from side to side on its own. By then I had finally taken my mind off of that horrible, horrible Mewtwo and began eating my food that had arrived 10 minutes before. I got a nice Chinese Chicken Salad, JD got a ceaser salad, and Ech got a chicken skillet. What they didn't say in the menu was that the skillet comes with a highly entertaining little item. Namely, an amusingly shaped red pan handle mitt, to keep you from burning yourself on the handle, sure.
After we finished eating, we headed back to the hotel to get some rest for the next day. Ech, Chris and I all stayed in the same room that night, so we stayed up a bit playing Yu Gi Oh with the Millenium Puzzle decks(and no, I won't give you a deck list). Day 3 Sunday, too, was fairly uneventful, except Marril stopped by to see us and rub it in that he has a laptop and I don't. Lousy water mouse(no offense, Marril). He took plenty of pictures, until the mall cops caught him and told him to give them back. Pure and JD had to leave Sunday evening, so I was stuck with Chris and Ech for Sunday night. After the event ended, JD and I ran around gathering up the posters that were hung up all over the mall advertising the event(after asking if it was ok, of course). We made off with a total of about 9, and no, you can't have any of those, either. Pure left, then JD left, and soon after, Chris, Ech and I went back to the hotel to change. We met up with Mike Hummel from Upper Deck, and apparantly, the guy who ran the store we were at last night arranged for us to participate in a round robin tournament at his store for the kids who play Yu Gi Oh there. Chris was able to hold on to the Millenium Puzzle decks for that evening, too, so we went back to the hotel, changed, and headed off to the store with Mike. We got there and then set up at the table and the store owner told everyone the rules. The kids would face us all once, Chris, Mike, Ech and myself, and whoever had the most points at the end would win 3 packs of Legend of Blue Eyes, the first set in Yu Gi Oh. so we played for about 2 hours, and there was only one person who was able to beat all four of us, with an extremely well built Exodia deck. Mike only lost once to him, I lost about 3 times, Ech lost twice. I'm not sure how many games Chris lost, but he was about the same as Ech and I. After we finished, we headed over to an italian place where they serve VERY generous portions of food. We already had a whole pizza to take home, so we left everything where it was, and we did a great deal of talking with Mike. We got lots of neat info about stuff, and no, I can't tell you that, either. Then we went back to the hotel to get some rest, since we were all leaving the next day. During the middle of the night, tho, someone set off a fire alarm in the hotel, and I was flashbacking to San Diego. @_@ Nothing serious, tho, it was a false alarm, so we all went back to bed. Day 4 My car ride to the airport wasn't until about 8:30, but Chris and Ech both left earlier than I did, so I had plenty of time to kick around the hotel room by myself while waiting to leave. Boston's Monday morning cartoons sure leave something to be desired. Eventually it was time for me to get going, so I made sure I had all my stuff and out I went. My flight back was somewhat entertaining, since I had the newest issue of Shonen Jump to read. And that was it. They were showing 2 movies on the way back, namely Sweet Home Alabama and My Big Fat Greek Wedding. I wasn't too terribly interested in either one, so I mostly slept the whole way home. And that's pretty much the end of my big fat greek trip to Boston on the Yu Gi Oh Trading Card Game Tour. Make sur eyou come back next week for Part 4, our visit up to the Windy City of Chicago, where we'll meet up with PKMNX(again)! -poinko |
