the pokemon world championship tournament

if you go to any pokemon event this year, worlds is probably the one to choose. if you're fortunate to be of an age to make your own travel decisions, save up! if you still require permission to go someplace, beg! beg really hard! ;D anyways, it looks like worlds is the place to be for both competition and fun. scroll on down for all the info we have on the event, and the seattle area! i've still got a LOT of work to do on this section, so, make sure to check back.

main event information

the main tournament event at Worlds is invitational only, for ages fourteen and under. the main event is free. how do you get an invitation? in one of these ways....players that have won an invitation at a Challenge Series event, all players who finished in the top 8 at the 2001 ESTS and WSTS (in the 10 and under, and 11-14 age groups), and the top 10 DCI ranked Pokemon players in the 10 and under age group, and the top 20 DCI ranked players in the 11-14 age group.

OR.......

haza!! you still have a shot! :D
eight shots to be precise...

players will have one last chance to win an invite on friday, august 2nd!

a grinder will be run, in which the winners will receive an invite to play in the tournament. this will be a Modified Constructed single elimination tournament starting at 3pm (registration opens at 2pm) at the Convention Center which will give players 10 and under, and 11 -14, one last chance to earn an invitation to the World Championship main tournament. The top 8 players from the 11-14 tournament and the top 4 players from the 10 and under tournament will earn an invitation to participate in the Pokemon World Championship main tournament the next day.

There will be a $5.00 fee to enter this tournament.

if you're traveling up to the event and you don't have an invite to the tournament, you might want to make your arrangements to allow you time to participate on friday. good luck! (bear in mind, that grinder winners will get an invite to the tourney only. wotc WON'T be covering your travel and lodgings expenses.)

want to know how the main tournament will work? it's different this time than it has been in the past.....
