2002 Wizards/Professor Challenge

 

What is the Wizards/Professor Challenge?

Open to Pokemon Professors who put in a minimum of 4 hours staff time at the 2002 Pokemon World Championship, this is your chance to compete in a tournament with Wizards of the Coast employees who make the decisions about Pokemon. This tournament will end up with crowning Wizards/Professor Champion for 2002.

 

When is it?

August 4th, 2002 starting later that day (start time will be announced on site).

 

Where is it?

It is being held during the last day of the 2002 Pokemon World Championship held at the Seattle Convention Center in Seattle, WA.

 

How much does it cost to participate?

There is no fee for this event outside of the 4 hour minimum staff requirement.

 

Who is eligible to compete in this Challenge?

All registered members of the Pokemon Professor program who put in a minimum of 4 hours volunteering as support staff at the 2002 Pokemon World Championship.

What do I need to bring with me to the Professor Championship?

You will need to bring a 60-card deck that is legal in the Unlimited Constructed format (see below), and a deck list.

What type of tournament is this?

This will be an Unlimited Constructed non-sanctioned tournament where you will get to compete against your fellow Professors as well as against Wizards of the Coast employees! Each Wizards of the Coast employee that participates will have a bounty placed on him or her. If you meet and manage to defeat any Wizards of the Coast employee during this tournament you will collect their bounty. Bounties can include promo cards, product, and other Pokemon merchandise.

 

What are the Unlimited format rules?

Unlimited decks may consist of cards from all Pokémon card sets and all promotional cards released by Wizards of the Coast. New card sets are allowed in Unlimited tournaments as soon as the product is available.

 

The following cards are banned in Unlimited tournaments:

* The promo card known as "Ancient Mew"

* _______'s Pikachu (The promo card known as "Birthday Pikachu")
