a few things have changed from last year's events....the stadium challenges are one day only events. there will also be fees charged for these events...

fee schedule
admission to main event--$10.00

this is the fee to play in the main 14 and under tournament, not a fee for admission to the actual stadium. there will also be side events, and those have separate fees attached to them. you can read on for a schedule of those.

while we're on the subject of side events, side events at the stadiums will be limited to card tournaments. there won't be any trivia contests, create a card contests or other similar activities, as were featured at the super trainer showdown series.

if you've never played in any of these formats (sealed deck or booster draft, for example) we strongly urge you to go and read the format specific rules in the dci floor rules section. the judges and tournament operators will explain the play rules to you before you start, but you will have a much better understanding of what you can and cannot do if you read over the rules. for instance, things like trading cards with another player in a draft or sealed deck competition--even if you are trading identical cards--is considered cheating and you can be disqualified. reading over the rules can help prevent you making a mistake that can cost you the tournament. it might seem like no big deal, but cheating--intentional or not--lowers the tournament for everyone.

pokemon professor tournament

as was previously announced in the wotc chats, the pokemon professor tournament will be rochester draft format. (if you're unfamiliar with rochester draft, you can read over the basic rules here. also, don't forget to check out the zeo wotc chat reports for the last few weeks. information on the tournaments and on the professor program is broken down and sorted out for you, so you can find the information you need quickly without having to read through an entire chat.)

as of now, that's all the details we have for the professor event. if you are 15+ and haven't taken the test yet, head on over to the professor program faq and see if that is something you would want to do.

the winner of this tournament gets an invitation (airfare and accomodations) to judge at the pokemon world championship held later this year. all pokemon professors working at that event will be able to attend an invite only tournament with the master trainers.....so if you haven't given any thought to becoming a pokemon professor you may want to do so.

if this is your first sanctioned tournament, or even if you're a veteran, it doesn't hurt to brush up on the floor rules. this will help you be as prepared as possible, particularly if you are playing in a draft or sealed deck format. they have additional rules you will need to know.
