Card Rulings Ask Your Ditto Questions Here!

(one of zeo's affiliates, i might add! :D) go check it out! i just put these here for those of you who feel like readin' em. Ditto question of the week: Ditto vs Wiggly. Ditto has 40 damage on it and a Gold berry. It uses do the wave on a Wigglytuff to knock it out. An Igglybuff replaces Wigglytuff.Does the Gold berry act in time to save Ditto, or will Ditto be KO'ed first because Iggly has to be imeadiatly brought up? darkmaster_steve says, "no, the gold berry will take effect at the end of turn,that end does not happen until after they choose a pokemon to put up, so you become an iggly with 40 damage, and you are toast." Does Ditto get whacked by Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzap!? darkmaster_steve says, "does he get hit by it? Yes." So the latest ruling is that if My attack puts my opponents Pokemon to sleep and that causes him to be KO's (ie Ditto) he gets to flip for a focus band? master_trainer_pat says, "Correct." master_trainer_pat says, "The difference is if poison or char KO's the pokemon" Last week you made some changes on what triggers Focus Band. Poison and Char still don't trigger it, right? darkmaster_steve says, "Correct," After a 7 1/2 hour drive down to San Diego, I made some dumb mistakes. Dark Muk's Sludge Punch vs. pokemon with Focus Band. Is poison damage applied before or after Focus Band Flip? master_trainer_pat says, "After damage but before poison damage is applied." Does a Buzzaped electrode trigger Triggered Poison? What about things like Fire Recharge and Electric Current? master_trainer_pat says, "No for all of those...Triggered Poison will only trigger on your free energy attachment for that turn." This also came up at the STS: can you trigger a berry/gold berry/miracle berry BEFORE the poison damage between turns? darkmaster_steve says, "yes, but I don't know about Strawberry or Blackberry," does the ''eggsplosion'' attack from eggecutor has an limit of damage? darkmaster_steve says, "58x20," master_trainer_pat says, "58 times 20" master_trainer_pat says, "right" darkmaster_steve says, "1160 total" Ah, I think I'm beginning to understand it now. Crystal Body ignores everything in the attack's text other than the number part. And since Pichu's Zzzzap doesn't have a number, that's why it gets blocked. Is that correct? darkmaster_steve says, "He sees the light!" master_trainer_pat says, "Yes sir." darkmt_mike says, "Ah Yes!" Eh, then what about Feint Attack against Suicune? No damage at all? darkmaster_steve says, "that is correct." Suicune-esque effects of Attacks like Agility and Barrier are negated if the PokÈmon is Benched, evolved, etc., right? master_trainer_pat says, "I'm not going to make a broad statement like that. We know that effects of attacks are often handled differently even when they are written the same" With a Suicine defending, would an attack like Double Claw or Stone Barrage do any damage? darkmaster_steve says, "attacks that have 20+ or 20 X or things like that do damage, the text tells you how to come to that damage, (normally flipping coins,) but since that number is there, you will do that damage." So what do you do? 10 with Geodude, and 20 for Scizor, or do you flip to see how much? darkmaster_steve says, "you would flip to see how much damage, the reason that you do damage is that it has the 20+ or the 10X" So Suicune prevents Zzap! What about attacks like the new lugia that give the player a choice of that number on the right or a coin flip? master_trainer_pat says, "You can't make the usual choice that you would for Lugia. It just does the listed damage to the right of the attack." I apologize if this is re-hash, but is self damage considered and effect of an attack? (Rockets Zapdos, etc) master_trainer_pat says, "Yes, it is." darkmaster_steve says, "yes, something that does damage to itself, simply loves suicune." about Suicine, what if you use Murkrow's Dive Bomb on it? Do you have to flip? darkmaster_steve says, "yes, you flip to see how much damage." So against Suicune, Misty's Psyduck's ESP can't do anything, right? master_trainer_pat says, "right" darkmaster_steve says, "ok, here is how this works, suicune prevents all text EXCEPT things that say, flip a coin this attack does X damage + X damage, or just X damage, or this attack does 20 times the number of heads. That is checking for damage, (just like it doesn't prevent the damage Gator does with riptide, just the effect of reshuffling)" Whoops, Actally, what if Misty's Psyduck got 3 heads on esp and tried to copy Suicune's attack? darkmaster_steve says, "Nothing, Misty's psyduck would do nothing. all of it is effect, (there is no number on the right side. correct, then no damage)" Playful Punch would still hurt Suicine since it's not an attack? darkmaster_steve says, "correct." So, any attack that does not have a X, -, +, ?, and/or damage on the right does NOT do anything to Suicine? master_trainer_pat says, "Yessir." darkmaster_steve says, "That is exactly correct." Is the new "discard [whatever] or does nothing" an effect or attack requiremnt in terms of Suicune? darkmaster_steve says, "if you are refering to Raichu's ability to discard all of his energy to do more damage that would be an effect. so it can and will only do the damage that is written, not what you can choose to do." This came up for me twice at the WCSTS, I could just use some clarification: Does holo Suicune's Power stop all kinds of bench damage? master_trainer_pat says, "Yes." darkmaster_steve says, "Has far has I know, yes." Would Raticates HyperFang (lt surge or base) effect suicune?? darkmaster_steve says, "does it have a number, Well, not quite, it has a ? which still counts, so yes, it would do damage." Would Weakness/Resistance apply when Suicine is defending? darkmaster_steve says, "yes, damage being raised or lowerd due to resistance or weakness is not effect of an attack." Does Murkrow's Feint attack get through Agility? darkmaster_steve says, "nope." Is the "don't apply weakness and resistance" in Pichu's attack an effect? ie: for calculation purposes vs. Suicune. master_trainer_pat says, "Nope." master_trainer_pat says, "Just a instruction." darkmaster_steve says, "Pichu wouldn't do any damage to suicune." darkmaster_steve says, "it is all an effect of pichu's attack to do 20 damage to all pokemon with a power." Q329 Huh? I don't get it. Why wouldn't Pichu's Zzzzap be blocked by Crystal Body. Isn't it doing damage to Suicune? darkmaster_steve says, "Damage is the number in the right side." darkmaster_steve says, "the rest is an effect." darkmaster_steve says, "well, there is no number on the right side,"master_trainer_pat says, "Since there really isn't a damage amount printed to the right of the attack, Pichu's attack and thus damage is and effect." darkmaster_steve says, "It is not damage, it is an effect, (yes an effect that would do damage, but still an effect that is prevented)" Back when you first came out with the suicune rulings, I asked if F. Haunter acted in a similar fashion. You said yes. master_trainer_pat says, "Transparency is a similar power, yes." If Suicune's power doesn't work on the bench, does that also apply to Fossil Haunter? master_trainer_pat says, "Right." master_trainer_pat says, "Nope, I take that back." master_trainer_pat says, "I just re-read Haunter. He says: when an attack does anything to Haunter, flip a coin." master_trainer_pat says, "This would still work while Haunter is on the bench." So if F. Haunter is affected on a bench, a heads only prevents effects that affect it specifically, right? darkmaster_steve says, "that is correct, it does not prevent anything other then what is going to happen to him" But F. Haunter still falls under the Suicune umbrella (that's just a metaphor, DMTM) while active, right? master_trainer_pat says, "Nope." darkmt_mike says, "Nope." master_trainer_pat says, "I don't know where you're getting that idea." Hey guys, thanks for the great weekend! Got a question outside of Suicune for you... I know this is an easy one, but I just want to clarify it. For Revolation Houndoom (flamethower), if I was to use Crunch one turn, it must be the same pokemon I did crunch to in order to get the extra 20, correct? darkmaster_steve says, "that is correct," How much damage can NG Sneasle w/2 Dark Energy do to Erika's Dratini w/PP still working? master_trainer_pat says, "10." Does Magby's sputter really suspend all pokemon powers during my opponents turn and through my next turn? darkmaster_steve says, "thats what it says..." whats the rules of the baby pokemons, cause i heard too many rumor i'm not sure, so whats the rules? master_trainer_pat says, "The baby rule is that you have to flip a coin to see if you can attack them." meaning that if you use an attack and a baby is the defending pokemon, you have to flip, right? master_trainer_pat says, "You have to flip just to check to see if you can attack"
