The New floor rules regarding start of game procedures
isn't quite clear on the point of whether the second player
(non-active) places his/her active and benched
Pokémon face down or up before player 1 (active)
places his/her active and benched. I'm sure it is face down,
but could you verify this?
master_trainer_mike says , "You're right! It also
doesn't say whether we all have to wear hats or not!!!!"
master_trainer_mike says , "ANARCHY!!"
master_trainer_mike says , "(kidding)"
master_trainer_mike says , "Quite clearly, you all
place your cards face down, until just before the game
actually starts."
I only wanted to verify
that point on starting procedures, since in a previous
portion it specifically statd player 1 (active) placed the
first Pokémon faced down, and then was non-specific
in the rest of the procedures. It also didn't call for the
cards to be turned over once the play area was set up.
master_trainer_mike says , "True. But we cannot
spell out every single step in a game. You have to use a
little common sense. The start of game procedure was just
clarifying the game start, NOT altering it."
master_trainer_mike says , "You start with cards face
down in the old way, you start with the cards face down in
the new way."
master_trainer_mike says , "You also flip the cards
over when you start. Otherwise, it would be a pretty dull
game."
Thank you. Yes, it
would be as dull as a Ditto vs Ditto battle. ;)
master_trainer_mike says , "or LSSP'd Ditto vs. a
Blaine's Ninetails! :)"
RE: The clarified
startup procedure. Will that be incorporated into new
version rulebooks that come with newer decks?
master_trainer_mike says , "Hmm, to be honest, I
don;t know."
master_trainer_mike says , "The new start procedure
is for tournaments only. It is NOT a game rule
change."
