Fresh out of the Wizards Chat here for you, the official Rulings to the Pokemon Trading Card Game! These are only the rulings from this week's chat, for a complete rules guide, check out our affiliate, Team Compendium for all your ruling needs.
From the Prof list... Just to confirm, Umbreon's & Murkrow's "Feint Attack" is unaffected by Erika's Dratini's "Strange Barrier" and Lily Pad Mew's "Neutral Shield", right?
master_trainer_mike says, "RIGHT!"
darkmt_mike says, "Corect!"
Is there any where I can go to find the latest team rules?
master_trainer_mike says, "That leads into something to tell you about."
master_trainer_mike says, "We will be posting updated Pokemon Florr rules on our web site on Jan 1, 2003."
master_trainer_mike says, "All errors will be corrected, Team Rules will be updated"
if i'm in a battle against Dark Feraligatr and my opponent has Rockets hideout in play. Dark Gatr has 80 damage, and i play energy stadium. would Dark Gatr be knocked out?
darkmt_mike says, "Correct it would be knocked out."
Re: 88 Does it matter if e. dratini/ Mew is active or not?
master_trainer_mike says, "No, Feint cuts through these effects."
is that really necessary to ban neo1 slowking? what about making it restricted to 1 or something less drastic?
master_trainer_mike says, "Yes it is. Japan has wanted us to remove this card for a long time now. By banning it, we solve several rules problems and make our licensor happy."
if there is a eleckid as a active pokemon and there is anthore eleckid as a active do you have to flip a coin to use his power
darkmt_mike says, "Nope. No flip needed it is a Pokemon Power and not an attack."
Light Azumarill's Bubble Jump attack: You only do the 'Then run away' part if you get heads?
master_trainer_mike says, "Correct, both effects are tied to the coin flip. Just badly templated."
With Gengar from Expedition in Team, do you count one person or the whole team?
master_trainer_mike says, "The whole team."
please explain the new rulings on ho-oh / porygon2... I thought I understood it, but after reading all the posts about it on WizPOG, now I'm not sure exactly how it works...
master_trainer_mike says, "Nope. This has been covered a zillion times already."
master_trainer_mike smirks.
master_trainer_mike says, "Ok, one more time."
darkmt_mike says, "ONE MORE TIME!"
master_trainer_mike says, "Ho-Oh ONLY DOES EXTRA DAMAGE FOR EVERY DIFFERENTACTUAL PHYSICALLY PRESENT BASIC ENERGY CARD ON IT!"
master_trainer_mike says, "You can call a fire energy a steam engine but it still won;t count as a different basic energy card."
master_trainer_mike says, "So, changing what type of energy a card provides, does NOT change what that card actually is."
master_trainer_mike says, "It does change what it counts as in that a card thatp rovides energy of a certain type, is considered an energy card of that type."
master_trainer_mike says, "Meaning, you make a Basic grass energy provide fire (like with Dary Porygon 2) and now that counts as a fire energy card."
master_trainer_mike says, "Any effect that can move a fire energy card like Rocket Charmander's Gather Fire can affect it."
master_trainer_mike says, "HOWEVER, it is NOT a BASIC FIRE ENERGY CARD."
master_trainer_mike says, "It is a basic grass energy card that also counts as a fire energy card (because it provides fire energy)."
darkmt_mike says, "If you are looking for logic in all the rulings...you are looking at the wrong Game."
darkmt_mike says, "It was never meant to have the kind of high level scrutiny that we have to apply to it. So some things do not make a lot of sense, but..."
darkmt_mike says, "That is just the way it has to be."
master_trainer_mike says, "Ho-oh was made to specifically encourage players to run multi-color decks. You will see more cards like this in Aquaplois and Skyridge as well."
If I attempt to play a card that requires a discard cost (CPU Search, Item Finder, etc.) and Chaos Gym is active, do I have to pay the cost *before* the Chaos Gym test? And if I fail, does the opponent have to pay the cost too if they want to use it?
master_trainer_mike says, "Yes and yes."
Another one... If I attempt to play a card that requires a discard cost (Computer Search, Item Finder, etc.) and the opponent has a Slowking, do I have to pay the cost *before* the check for Mind Games?
master_trainer_mike says, "Yes."
if you use the new tranitar and the vensaure with energy trans can you move the energys off the new tranitar with his pokemon body
darkmt_mike says, "No."
In Team Play,I`m using Card E VilePlume`s PP Poison Pollen and I flip heads.Does the pokemon I target it with stay the "defending Pokemon" meaning I can only attack that Poke when I use an attack?
darkmt_mike says, "Correct."
on the promo lelly pad mew if you magbe sputer and then use dark gengar pull in does lelly pad mew power come back on
master_trainer_mike says, "yes, that would work. It gets pulled. Its power is still off because Sputter only ends when Magby gets Benched."
MTM/DMTM in your playtesting did you find Slowking too strong with the cards expected from Aquapolis? I was mebbie thinking Warp Point and how broken swarms would be with the King (is dead)
master_trainer_mike says, "There are many reasons for a card being banned. Japan wanted this card gone."
So you can always Energy Trans a Grass Energy card, even if its been converted, because its always a Grass Energy card?
master_trainer_mike says, "No, it is still physically a basic grass energy cartd, but it counts as a fire (if that is what you chose) energy card."
master_trainer_mike says, "Venusaur has you move grass energy cards."
master_trainer_mike says, "Ho-oh counts the number of actual different BASIC energy cards."
do you think Dark Ursarang can be as good as Sneasle?
darkmt_mike says, "Nope."
darkmt_mike says, "Depends, it is all situational."
master_trainer_mike says, "It involves a lot of coin flips and can damage you just as much as your opponent. Iffy."
lear in the post @ WizPoG... as I see it, when a card ask for energy card it refers to the type of energy the card provides but when its asks for Basic Energy Card or Special Energy Card it refers to the actual card it self... right?
master_trainer_mike says, "That is a great way to put it. Thanks."
