hoo hey, its back on the plane day. today we are going to HOUSTON! i can't decide between steak, seafood and barbeque. anyways, if you are near the galleria mall, stop by and say hi! ryle and dune are coming down to hang with us too! while you are there perhaps you can suggest a nice restaraunt. maybe one with steak seafood AND barbeque.

anyways, we do actually have some content so i'll move right along to that. yesterday of course was thursday, and we all know that thursday means wotc chat! marril has broken it down for us so run along and check it out!

chat time

and that's not all marril did today....MONTHS ago i made a blank from the crystal lugia. and it sat there. finally i handed it off to mt, and he staged it for me. then i passed the stages on to marril, who set up the html. i know i need to do other colors of crystal type, but for now we have this one. so, live it up!

crystal blanks

poinko also has a new equation card...you know you want to see that!

psychics, yes abra!

hm.....what else do we have? i wanted to scan the coro coro stuff but didn't quite get to it, sorry about that. :( so, let's see what various members of the zeo community have to entertain and amaze you.

first on deck we have phatgnome, with a new fake card!

leafy wants to be real

poor little leafy. keep dreaming.....

(the pkmn fairy flies in and waves a magic wand)

wow. that was one determined little leafy.

and bringing a higher note of culture to the weekend update, i present pikamew, who will perform an interpretive dance....

darkpikamew: I'm bored.
purity: dark pikamew has said the fatal b word
purity: i therefore request he perform an interpretive dance for tonights update
darkpikamew: "PikaMew" is one word, Pure.
darkpikamew: Hmm...
purity: start dancin
darkpikamew: Can I use my psychic powers to do so?
purity: as you like
darkpikamew: Mm'kay.
darkpikamew: *does an interpretive dance while upside down*
darkpikamew: ...I forgot the next step...
darkpikamew: Ah, well. Whatever.
darkpikamew: *does The Monkey, while still upsidedown*
darkpikamew: *his psychic powers fail, and he falls to the ground*
purity: [applauds]
darkpikamew: Ow... My clavicus... majorus.
darkpikamew: *BPM was deleted*

that was just beautiful.

anyways, it's a thin lot to last you for the weekend, but it's been a bit of a tough week. who knows what the weekend will bring???? enjoy your weekend, if we don't see you until next week, or even if we do. ;)

quote of the day:
purity: theres a program on the big dig on the discovery channel
Gloom: what's the big dig?
Marril: a waste of money in boston

Hello! It's Gloom, updating today! Just got back from League, so, I got to hear about how great the Toronto SBZ was. The attendance on it was something around fifty people. @_@ Way to go, T an'O!

Off the bat, MysteryThing, our Mod who took first place in the Alberta SBZ, was kind enough to provide us with a recollection of his battles in that event. Thanks for the report MT!

MT's SBZ Report!

I know a few other people are working diligently on their SBZ reports as well - send them all in, we'd love to hear how you did, what deck you played, and what you went up against!

In addition, I've got the third installment in the series of Deck Profiles, hot off the...err, keys. This one focuses on the basic Slashtap deck, a Haymaker variant that has probably seen more play at the higher echelons than regular Hay itself. Should be a good read!

Iiiiiiit's got Sneasel!

PKMNX will be hosting the upcoming Zeo Radio show this weekend, on Saturday. Watch the Chatterbox tomorrow for an update detailing times and IP details for the show.

Zeo Radio Info!

Oh, and lastly, Mechachu informs me that "all the kids want to be like Mech". So, if you're a kid, and haven't yet wanted to be like Mech, well, be the first on your block and get to it! Uhh... I'm not sure if that was newsworthy. But Mech filed the papers and all. *blushes*

That's it for today! Saturday's show should be really great, and as we delve deeper into the week we'll have more deck profiles, some cards and art, and hopefully more SBZ Reports! Should be a good week. See you!

quote of the day:
mechachu: i'd laugh and say something dramatic and awesome sounding, like, "Now how do you like DEM aipoms".

ah.... and so another week has ended. did everyone have fun? for us the week is just starting and we're off on another wacky adventure across america!

[triumphant yet wacky theme song plays]

this week we're off to Flat Iron Crossing in Denver Colorado! lets give it up for deeeeeeeeeenver! wooooooot!

anyway, if you are in the area this weekend come to the ygo mall tour and say hello to pure, poinko, gloom and myself as we delve into another week of the YGO MALL TOUR!!!!

*pokemon zeo takes no responsibility for the sleep deprived actions of a certain echidna and greatly apologize for the 'woooot'ing contained therein.*

hmmmm.... sadly we dont have too terribly much for you today, but we DO have the weekly wizards of the coast pokemon chat.. sadly one of the last ones.

the countdown seems to be on, and as it was said in the chat today mid august is the last day to hold dci sanctioned pokemon events.... <sniff> its sad to watch things come to an end... but heck, we still have three months left! lets rock the game like we've never rocked it before!

we also have a cool new dork card to finish off the week! tonight we have the supposedly superior evolution to magikarp.... GYARADOS! ....well, DORK gyarados, anyway.

its still good! its still good!

ryle: i'll stick to alternative metal thank you.
ech: like cobalt and potassium?

ImAkUNi? DAY 2003
today: May 22nd 2003

ok, well... we warned you, and for some strange reason marril remembered that on may 22nd, 2002 i dubbed it 'imakuni? day' because we had an unnatrually large amount of imakuni? themed items... and well... not to dissapoint, i hand the majority of this update over to marril... who will now give us our yearly dose of imakuni?ness

Whooooo! LET YOUR MIND GO CRRAAAAZZZZYYYYYER than it has EVER gone before! IMAKUNI DAY IS HERE! Whooo!!!!!!! Celebrate with a brand new batch of IMAKUNI blanks, in Advanced Form!!!

And Why not load up on the BRAND NEW MARAKUNI? font, the official IMKAUNI font family of Zeo, Marakuni2!

Wheee!!!! It’s IMAKUNI? DAY! Let your fakes go wild, wilder and crazier than that monkey in Glooms closet, for its IMAKUNI DAY!!! Freakier, Funner, and more badder at grammar than I have every typed for an update… Ooh! Poin-kuni? has some fun deal for us!

Ech can :)
ech note.. for the record, i can only do the first 251... in under 2 minutes. i cannot name all the new pokemon in, as marril calls it, the 'namethepokemonreallyfast' thing, nor do i have any intension of doing so... i retired after the wcsts. you hear that Ra?! I RETIRED! stop asking me to do it at the ygo tour!!! arrrrgh! [ech's head explodes]

…ow, I am going to have a headache tomorrow…

-marril

thank you for that imakuni? themed update marril! it will hold us over until imakuni? day 2004... or at least until bi-imakuni? day in late november...

anyway, i have just one more bit of infor for you all, in the form of pokemon ex: ruby and sapphire info!

in this month's issue of nintendo power, we get our first glimpse of the cards, due out in a little less than a month. hmmm.... seems that nintendo has taken from the japanese adv set, and fused it with the english ecard sets.. throw in a dash of overlays and transparcencies, and VOILA! we have the highly border/face clashing english rs layout!

anyway, not too much is revealed in the aricle, but there is this nice snippit....

"the new series will feature some new game play innovations as well, including ex-marked cards, which feature pokemon that ahve jaw dropping battle powers, but a jaw-shattering downside when they faint. the new series will also include an additional way to play - two on two battles!"

mmmmmm. sounds like fun. mark june 18th on your calenders folks, as thats when pokemon takes the next step. lets see how the company change fares, shall we?

 quote of the day:

Mars: this is irritating... I've got four rechargable batteries here, and when I put two of them in my CD player it doesn't work. but the other two do... we just bought these. O_o
Gloom: "Mars has 12 batteries. One of them doesn't work. He has five cd players. one takes two batteries, one three, one four, one five, and one six..."
Mars: *holds head*
Gloom: "How can he determine which one is the dead one in three moves?"
purity: 1) throw them all away 2) drive to store 3) buy new batteries

last update: um... 4am-ish

hmmm.... its been a couple weeks since i've been here in the zeo spotlight.... not a whole lot has changed really ^_^'

anyway, we're in the midweek blues today, as there isnt too much information, however tomorrow is a special day, for those of you who have kept track.... (which i honestly think is only marril... ;))

well, this weekend marked the stateside release of the fifth pokemon movie, and while, it was no matrix reloaded in terms of ticket sales, it opened in 12th spot with just over $250,000 in sales, which considering it was playing in under 200 theaters, isnt too shabby...

of course the loew's theater in new york had a big pokemon extravaganza again, and a great time was had by all.

On Friday, May 16th, 2003, we threw a little party for Pokémon, and it included the premiere of Pokémon Heroes ! The Pokémon Center made an offer fans couldn't refuse &endash; buy $100 of merchandise, and you got two free tickets to the Friday night premiere of Pokémon Heroes at Loew's Theatres E-Walk in Times Square.

The event was packed to the rafters. Almost every single seat was filled with anxious fans who were treated to one of the best Pokémon movies of all time. The mystery of Latios and Latias was finally revealed to the 200+ crowd who cheered, whistled, and roared as the movie unfolded.

The crowd got more than a movie &endash; they also got goodie bags filled with Pokémon toys, including Kabutops and Aerodactyl collectible figures. Along with the goodies, fans also sat side-by-side with some of the voice talent from the film, including Veronica Taylor, who voices Ash, and Eric Stuart, who voices Brock. Kids also got to take their pictures with some of the Pokémon characters after the movie.

All in all, the audience was more than satisfied with the great gifts, awesome movie, and fabulous fun that only the Pokémon Center NY can provide

the movie is definitely one of the better ones (my favorite is still pokemon 2000 tho.... cant beat lugia :D) and if you get a chance to go see it, by all means, do so.

just be prepared tho... there are no promos this time. :( guess nintendo hasn't figured out their promo stance yet.

we also have some new artwork from good old poinko!

today's art is one of the uglier baby pokemon, and one that only a mother could love.... although i must admit, this one is one of the cuter more mischievous looking magby's i've seen....

yep! its MAGBY!

sorry there isnt much of an update tonight... there really wasn't that much to update with. a couple of words of note tho... pokemon ex: ruby and sapphire, (the official name of the next pokemon expansion) is due out on june 18th, and the very much awaited harry potter and the order of the phoenix is now just thirty days away.... i got my copy reserved... do YOU?

Hey Zeo, Marril here while the Tour Four are soaking up the sun in Los Angeles, California working the Yu-Gi-Oh Tour. If you’re in the Denver Colorado area next weekend why not stop by the Flatiron Crossing to say hello to Zeo's own Echidna, Purity, Poinko and Gloom.

The great gaming convention E3 passed by, and yet another cool Pokémon hand out. Those who stopped by the Nintendo booth were treated with a special gift, the Eon Ticket. This special pass is how you can obtain either Latias or Latios, whichever one is not catch able in your game. The pass is simple, it’s a card-e so you scan it in on the reader (which is linked to your GBA running Pokémon Ruby or Sapphire), which should then give you the Eon Ticket, first after being a member of the Mystery Events Club (details are on the package). Here it is, the great Eon Ticket:

Incase you are wondering what the inside says about the ticket and can’t read it:

Use the EON TICKET to travel to SOUTHERN ISLAND where LATIAS or LATIOS await. Not only are these Pokémon art to find and catch, they also carry SOUL DEW which increases Special Attack and Special Defense when carried by LATIAS or LATIOS.

After defeating the Elite Four and the Pokémon League Champion, a ferry will be waiting in LILYCOVE CITY to take you to SOUTHERN ISLAND. The EON TICKET must be shown before you board the ferry.

And just to add as Pure reported last week, the Pokémon Get machines at the Pokémon Center in New York are finishing up the final upgrades for Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. Be ready to stop by because on May 31st and June 1st the Eon Ticket could be yours!

Also during E3, many cool up coming games where shown off at the Nintendo booth. After watching a few of the videos up on Nintendo’s E3 Site here are what I thought to be some interesting titles (all videos are in Windows Media Player format):

Well this seems like it today. Congratulations to those who could solve my signature puzzle this week, SnoJoe, Freon de Glace, and Andy Light Kai. Interested in getting your name here, search the forums and solve Marril2k’s forum signature image puzzle and pm me what your answer is, Good Luck.

Repair Guy: I'm sorry, your house is too close to the crub.

Repair Guy: That may be. But you know what? I only have to wear one goggle when i go swimming in my pool!

well, it's that time of the week again. off to another city, another mall tour, another weekend of work. this weekend we will be in southern california, at the westfield shopping center in west covina. if you're in the neighborhood why not drop by and say hello? anyways, internet at the hotel seems to be restricted to the web tv type. sooo....maybe we'll post on the forums but that might be it. so, let's do what we can to tide you over til monday!

we'll start things off with an announcement from pkmnx, the host of zeo radio.....

introducing...the next zeo radio show!

this hour/two hour-long event on saturday, may 31 (date subject to change, but probably won't) will feature contests, live zeo updates, and, of course, music, from YOU! remember, it's not too late to send in your music and get it played on the air! to listen to zeo radio, you need a media program that can connect to/play URLS(IP addresses) - Winamp (www.winamp.com) and iTunes (www.apple.com/itunes/download) both work splendidly. be warned, though; any connection lower than cable/DSL may suffer from constant periods of rebuffering (until we can get a server set up). for a rough schedule - the first part will be requests (where zeophytes can request a playing of their favorite song), followed by the first ever zeo radio contest at the half hour (details TBA). the second part features more music, requests, and moderator's choice, with music from some of our great forum administration. depending on when the show us scheduled, we might go to an hour and a half, or even two hours! give us some good air time suggestions at that same forum topic.

zeo radio features music from all genres, including hits by Basement Jaxx, Weird AL Yankovich, Pink, and lots of anime themes (among quite literally HUNDREDS of other artists). stay tuned to both the main page and the chatterbox sticky topic for more information as it arrives. please keep sending in music, and I hope to see you on the 31st!"

yay!

thanks pk. pk has hit me up for some prizes, so i'm donating a couple of the unowns, some buttons, a dog tag or two, and probably a few other promos and other goodies. should be fun! im sorry i'll miss it. :(

let's see....yesterday was thursday and we all know what that means! csi! woo! oh...and the weekly wotc chat. there's lots of info on the prize support for sbz, so if you are planning to head to one of those you'll want to check it out.

wizards chat--- WOW that's a lot of free stuff

well the matrix:reloaded was great! and while on the subject of movies, today the pokemon movie opens. why not check www.movietickets.com and see where it's showing near you? we've asked if promo cards are being distributed, but haven't been able to get an answer.....so, its a toss up on that.

we've decided to extend the movie contest---i'll paste in the annoncement from yesterday for those of you who missed it. new deadline---midnight on monday.

Today we've got a contest for you all! Basically, we've got two goals to accomplish the first, is to promote the new Pokemon movie, Pokemon Heroes! The second? Well, we'd like to run a lot of contests, and though we've got a lot of good ideas and things in the works, we'd like some help from all of you!

So, here's what we need: Watch the Pokemon Heroes theatrical trailer (the website is of course conveniently linked through the banner at the top of this page ;D), and check out the movie posters distributed to promote the film. Then, write five riddles based around some of the Pokemon featured in the trailer and the posters. Make 'em good, and submit them to us: we'll read and judge them all, and the five contributors who we deem as having written the best quintet of conundrums will not only have their riddles used in a future Zeo contest, but each will also win an official Pokemon Heroes movie poster, graciously gifted to us by the good folks at Miramax!

Sound good? Better get to it, because you've only got til midnight on monday to get in your entry! Submit it to jdgloom@sugarshock.net before Midnight, EST, and we'll read 'em over!

and for those of you who have enjoyed gloom's previous deck profile article on sneaselkingkrow, you'll be delighted to learn he's backagain with an article on haymakers.....neoized hay to be exact. whether you play archetypes or not, studying them as a theory will help increase your understanding of the game. so, i'll hand this section of the update on over to gloom.....

Hi, Gloom here! Tonight we have the second in the series of Deck Profile's for Unlimited! This one focuses on the progenitor itself, the Haymaker! This article focuses on the Neoized Hay - subsequent ones will work out the details of Slashtap, Insanity, and other Hay variants. ;D More to come in the coming days, I hope to have Profiles of most, if not all, of the Unlimited archetypes up in the next three weeks!

hay there

hmmm...oh! i've only been meaning to mention this for like, a week now. sorry....anyways, as i've reported, the catch em all station at the pokemon has been down pending the changeover to ruby/sapphire. well, they'd hoped to have it up and going around time the movie came out, but it looks like it will still be a while. anyways, keep checking their site, because on the last weekend of this month--may 31st and june 1st, saturday and sunday, the pokemon center will be distributing eon tickets for your ruby and sapphire games. most likely in the same small machines that they gave out mews and celebis on. it would be nice if they were distributed in e card form, though....

like the ones given out at E3! take a look!

e3 promo....ecard eon ticket

and what else...ah! we got an email from pokeplayer, who forwarded us an email received from a card shop in seattle, about the nintendo set that is coming out....anyone else work in/know someone in a card shop? maybe the info is going to multiple sources. it would be nice to hear what is being told to other shops. anyways, here you go. i cannot and won't vouch for its accuracy as it's early days and i don't know the card shop owner, but it's interesting reading nonetheless. if anyone else has similiar info we'd love to hear it!

"The Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire video games are flying off the shelves with over 6 million shipped so far. The Pokémon television ratings are at their highest levels in three years! Add to this a multi-million dollar marketing campaign (including a fast-food tie-in), a new movie, a new "must-have" Game Boy® Advance SP, as well as television advertising for the TCG and Pokémon is getting even more exciting.

The trading card game we're all familiar with is getting even better! Nintendo is releasing expansions for the Pokémon-e Trading Card Game. Because it's the same game (designed and developed by the same people as always), all cards are 100% compatible with current and previous cards! The first release, EX Ruby & Sapphire, introduces new Pokémon, updated rules, new card types, new 2-on-2 battles, dot-code on Pokémon cards (provides Pokédex information), and much more! It has been quite a while since new Pokémon have been added to the game and fans have been waiting for this!

who's going to see matrix: reloaded? who? who? who? who saw it already? hmm???
i'm off to see it today, in IMAX! hoo hah. then i'll swing by the pokemon center, see if they have aquapolis, check in on the movie promotion, and maybe have time to have a game with bolt.

well.....let's see. thin pickings tonight im afraid, i didn't really turn up a lot that's new, it's unfortunately all kind of old news. buuut here we go.

all you ruby and sapphire players might want to check out www.pokemon-games.com....they've got a full pokedex, battle strategies, a downloadable stat evaluator, and a lot of other utilities to enhance your game experience. check it out!

www.Pokemon-Games.com

and what else.....ah! dmtm has some more articles up on wizards.com...with all the sealed events to look forward to at origins and gencon, it might not hurt to learn a bit more about sealed play. here's a link, if you would like to do so!

the perfect storm. er, sealed deck....

going to the super battlezone 2? here's an article on sbz enviroment that might help you decide what to play.....

enviromental concerns

whoops! i totally forgot to put up the link. boy is my face red.

and to tie it all up at the end we have another deck fix. let's hear what gloom has to say on the subject....

Gloom here again! Tonight we have a Modified format Kingdra Steelix deck - a pseudo-archetype that can be a bit slow, but can swarm effectively and really go the distance. The deck was a tad on the problem-riddled side (wrong Kingdra! o_o'), but, I fixed it up good as new. ;D

no king steel

Keep sending in those decks!

ah, well....it wasn't much but it was an update. see you tomorrow, we'll have another update! they just keep coming. :D

last update: Midnight am

hello, welcome to wednesday. let's see what we can find for you....i fear there won't be much, but we will see what we can do.....

well, ign has some info on the new pokemon games, along with screenshots. if you are a member at ign you're in luck, cause you'll actually be able to see em! apparently there is info in this month's corocoro, so i'll ask vash to go see if mine is in, and if so we'll get the info from that up for you as soon as possible. meanwhile, go over to www.ign.com and see how many pics they'll let you see for free! ;) anyways.....pokemon channel, pokemon colosseum, and pokemon pinball for the gba (i'm REALLY looking forward to that one) all coming soon, and i daresay we'll hear a lot more about them during/after E3.

while on the subject of pokemon games.....when will we be getting more pokemon mini titles? they are up to TEN different game titles in japan, while in the us we are still limited to the original four it launched with. come on, nintendo! throw us a bone here! one shaped like....six new pokemon mini games.......

off the subject of videogames and on to the subject of cards! skyridge....um...yeah. we had to take the card scans down temporarily, im sorry. they drove the bandwidth up something savage. so until ech can shrink them down to a workable size, they won't be viewable. but to make up with it we have the first in what i hope will be many pdf files of text spoilers for the cards. now, you may think you've seen text spoilers, and i am sure that you have, but i don't think youve seen any as nice as this one. but why take my word for it, get it and see for yourself!

skyridge to go

ech spent a long time on it, so i hope you all get a good use out of it! its 82 pages long, so be forewarned......

remember yesterday, i told you we'd have a contest for you today? well.....here it comes, and i hope you are ready cause it's gonna be a fast one!

Today we've got a contest for you all! Basically, we've got two goals to accomplish &endash; the first, is to promote the new Pokemon movie, Pokemon Heroes! The second? Sound good? Better get to it, because you've only got til midnight tonight to get in your entry! Submit it to jdgloom@sugarshock.net before Midnight, EST, and we'll read 'em over!

Beeeeetter get writing! ;D

and we have some art for you today! yesterday we had some by eric, today we have some by poinko. it's one of poink's favorites......

elekid!

and as if that weren't enough, he has a new equation card......everyone's favorite fish....

magikarp!
karp karp

and to tie it all up at the end we have another deck fix. let's hear what gloom has to say on the subject....

Gloom here again! Tonight we have a Modified format Kingdra Steelix deck - a pseudo-archetype that can be a bit slow, but can swarm effectively and really go the distance. The deck was a tad on the problem-riddled side (wrong Kingdra! o_o'), but, I fixed it up good as new. ;D

and that's your lot for tonight. tomorrow we will have more, so don't despair. see you then!

last update: Midnight am

hi there, we are back again from phoenix. it was very nice there. we were in paradise valley, everything had flowers on it, and i caught a toad. salada came by to see us and we were really happy to see her, it's been a very long time since the san diego sts. percentages were pretty good in the puzzle, i think we had a 94% win rate. apparently a lot of people were going around saying they beat me, but adding them up equaled more than my losses, so......there's some fibbing duelists running around out there! shame, shame, shame. ;)

ech was happy to report that he did indeed find a scorpion in his shoe this morning. i don't know if it was the authentically detailed plastic one from the hobby store, or the real live dead one sealed in resin in paperweight form, however. would you like a chance to win the plastic one? plans are underway for an exciting new addition to zeo, that we have yet to see on any pokemon site out there. as soon as the research and development team is done with it, we'll have a big launch party.

we know how much you like to win stuff, here at zeo. so! in conjuction with the new movie coming out, we've arranged to get some of the movie posters....five in all. would you like a chance to win a poster from the new pokemon movie? then prepare yourself for tomorrow's update, in which we will tell you how you can! i have some celebi promos as well from the last movie i'm willing to kick in.

we do have some other news.....a few new pokemon game titles....no detail, just some names.....

pokemon channel: together with pikachu -- july 18
pokemon stadium -- fall 2003

not another stadium!!! hm.....well, i wonder what it will be like. i will reserve my judgement. i'm not sure how accurate the info is, we're looking for some nintendo corroboration right now.

eric has some more dex art for us. we're really moving along on that.....anyways, here is...

makuhita

kirlia

a lot of you are fans of eric's art work. did you know drawing isn't his only artistic outlet? that's right.....eric has been branching out into the arena of interpretive dance. here is a small sample.....

EricsMewtwo: [does the robot]
EricsMewtwo: I am Bender, please insert girder. Beep beep.
EricsMewtwo: [waves arms like a bird, skips over, and licks a rock] Pastels! Blood in my eyes, can't see my.....honda!

[applause]

you can only get this kind of thing at zeo, folks.

gloom has contributed a deck fix as well! take it away, gloom!

Gloom here tonight with a modified fire deck from a member of Procrastination Ally's gym. It was a bit too broad, but we narrow it down and make it a lot more focused - should be good.

prismafire

and lastly but not leastly, we have another equation card from poink!!! you all remember cubone, so let me present.....

dork marowak

remember to check back tomorrow, for contest details, more dork pokemon, and goodness knows what else. enjoy your day! oh....and don't forget to keep on reading. we have sunday's update from marril directly below this one! twice the update! haza!

ok, im a tad disheartened....

for the mall tour, every single time we've been in california its been raining. seriously. san fransisco. rain. santa monica. rain. san diego. looooooots of rain.

so this weekend we are in good old phoenix arizona. good old HOT phoenix. right? [checks weather.com] oooooh. sunny all weekend. highs in the high 80s to low 90s....0% chance of rain... i hope im not jinxing it by looking at the forecast...

anyway, this weekend we are at the paradise valley mall in phoenix arizona! if you are in the phoenix area, make sure to check us out, and stop by and give us a nice zeo 'hey!'

hmm.... well, its supposed to be nice and warm this weekend, so one of my two hopes for phoenix looks like it will come true.... now just gotta hope for the second.... [looks longingly at his boots]

remember last week we were talking about the new promotion at wendys later this month? well... we now have some more pics, along with a 'set list' of the collectors cards.

it also answers our queries as to if the cards are tcg cards, or just painted cardboard... and the answer is....

it looks like they are just that. just collectors cards along the lines of the ones they gave out during the burger king promotion oh so long ago.

hmmm... already i see two advantages to this promotion over bk. 1. i like wendy's food better. and 2. there isnt 150 toys to have to try and collect, prolonging exposure to the for said food :D

1. Pikachu
2. Charizard
3. Mewtwo
4. Tyranitar
5. Lugia
6. Feraligatr
7. Gyrados
8. Kyogre
9. Latios & Latias
10. Torchic
11. Groudon
12. Mudkip
13. Duskill
14. Treecko
15. Kecleon

so we have four classic pokemon, three neo pokemon and 8 advance pokemon. well... 9... kinda. depends on if you count latias and latios as one or two ;)

so if you still want to get some new pokemon gadgets.... [i admit... i do....] then head on over to wendy's later this month and scope these out!

word of the day: cartilaunch.

is it a real word, or is it a word crafted by our crafty card crafter, poinko? thats the question that we all should craft an answer to as we look at his latest crafted craft.

...ok the last three were just reaching.

craft a crafty opinion....

and of course, its friday. yesterday was thursday. and we have the wotc chat! with a nice new set on store shelves, there was no shortage of skyridge questions... and there was also no shortage of pie related information.

well, that is about all that we have for you today. hopefully its enough to hold you all over until monday night when we have a sure update again... of course, if we have highspeed again this weekend, it might be sooner. :D

i have stuff to work on during the plane ride this weekend... hopefully its something that everyone will get use out of. i KNOW that chrisbo will :D

have a good weekend!

-ech

quote of the day:

purity: i'll have to call the warehouse today
Poinko: there's a pokemon warehouse? *begins frothing*
Gloom: yeah. it's got boxes and boxes of product just lying about. and psyducks meander the aisles with push carts, moving things to and fro.
Poinko: ohoohooohhhhohohohohohh*collapses*
Gloom: Jigglypuffs frolic and congregate. zubats deliver new packages. It really is quite the site to see.
purity: hehe

Last Update: 2:07am

hmmmm.... so pure had a lot of pokemon content yesterday.... now lets see if i can scrounge up some more for you all.

as pure mentioned yesterday, skyridge was shipped on monday and should be arriving in stores soon. in fact, she moseyed on down to the pokemon center yesterday in search of the set, but alas, the center has not gotten in their shipment yet. lots of other interesting stuff going on at rockefeller center though, and pure will tell us all about it tomorrow.

anyway, pure was unable to get any, but mt said that he found some at a local store! bonus! ...unfortunately they store only had ordered in three boxes. one for mt. one for another person.... and one to sell. >_< so here's where my story begins. as soon as i heard that i dashed over to the sentry box to pick up what i could of the 'box to sell' and an hour later i arrive at the store... and low and behold, they still had 36 packs left! chalk on up for miserable calgary weather.

so to make a long story relatively shorter, we have a full set of skyridge scans (sans that tricky crystal crobat..) and calgary is totally devoid of skyridge for the next week. ^_^'

thanks to massive amounts of scanning and formatting, we have nice big beautiful pictures of the last wotc made set.

under a moonlit sky(ridge)

one interesting thing that i discovered while opening the box tho... i was quite pleased to get a crystal charizard, ho-oh, and kabutops, as i had never gotten a SINGLE crystal pokemon... but upon closer inspection (read: while scanning) i noticed something... odd.

the charizard and kabutops were actually... REVERSE FOIL!

thats right! in this set, it looks like the crystal pokemon also have a reverse foil treatment, so in theory you can get a holo crystal pokemon AND a reverse foil crystal pokemon in the same pack!

buuuuuuuuuuuuuce.

anyway, i think that skyridge is a really great set, and i've already devised some deck ideas. if they will work or not is a different story however ;)

well, in a way poinko has some new art for us... but its in the form of a new equation card!

today's rendition into the dork database is a pokemon that seems to always have a dorky demeanor, the slow bro..... slowbro!

sloooooooooooow.....bro.

um.....

[looks around for more]

ok, i really dont have much more, because i spent the day stalking cards, scanning cards, formatting cards, linking cards, and transferring cards... @_@ i got cards on the brain....

anyway, check out the skyridge scans, and then make sure to get your questions ready for the wotc chat tonight at 6est/3pdt!

Last Update: 11:11pm

well well well what do we have today....as promised, more pokemon! you can't say fairer than that. so, onwards!

first off, dmtm posted some scans of the new boxtoppers. remember when we told you we got a sneak peek but we couldn't talk about them apart from they looked amazingly cool? well now we can talk about them. anticlimactic, what?

first off, they are all crystal types. neat! who doesn't like crystal types. the kicker? they are printed on clear plastic, with this really cool fractured ice-crystalline holo effect. they really look amazing, wotc out did themselves on these. it was so cool to get an early look and i've been anxiously awaiting the set ever since. in case you haven't seen them, we've got scans of them here!

crystal crobat (poink's favorite)
crystal ho-oh
crystal kabutops
crystal CHARIZARD (my favorite)

skyridge is supposed to have shipped monday. so, it should be appearing in stores soon. there are some great cards in this set, and new dynamics, and CRYSTAL boxtoppers, so keep watching the stores. i'm off to the pokemon center tomorrow to bug them about the set. if i can get a box, we'll have scans up asap. maybe i'll bring my scanner in case we can find some in phoenix!

let's see. what else....oh yes. if you haven't yet heard, the prizes for the pokemon events at origins and gencon are AMAZING.....but don't take my word for it, mtm is here to tell you all about it

hokey SMOKES that's a lot one of prizes

hmm.....oh! poink has some new art for us, its one of my personal favorites too.....

meowth!!

and i think that's your lot.....mt is very nicely going to stage the crystal blanks for me, and so we should be seeing those in a few days. tune in tomorrow for an update from the pokemon center, some contest details if we've worked them out, and....more! there's bound to be more. if not...we'll improvise. see you then!

Last Update: 11:11pm

hi there! ech needs a break i think so today you have me, pure, with the update. there won't be much because i've been asleep most of the day (love those overnight flights with stopovers) so..hm. not a lot of pokemon, but we do have a little bit on last weekend's tour...

first off, the best part was seeing minimech, hackman, twinsen and hack's friends ryan and rob.  i haven't seen mini for more than a year, the sts in san diego. wow, he got even taller.  anyways, they showed up, hung out with me while i ate lunch then came back down to watch us play.

since they had some time to kill that day, they worked on a cool project.....

                                                                                     yu-gi-oh, the zeo expansion

want to take a peek at the exciting cards in this set? check out the links below!

minimech!
                                                                                  mechachu!
                                                                                  hackman!
                                                                                  poinko!
                                                                                  ech!
                                                                                  gloom!
                                                                                  purity!

after the saturdays events were over, we went out to get some dinner at the all you can eat salad soup and pasta place. we went through a lot of plates and had a pretty good time. then we headed back to the hotel for an expedition draft.  for some dumb reason i drafted water.....i've NEVER drafted water. anyways, i had a decent enough deck, i had a copy cat, 2 potions, 2 master balls, AND elm's research. unfortunately my first round was against mini who somehow managed to draft a MEGANIUM DECK. so....yeah.  he had a resistance to my weakness.  i hung in there for a while tho, and came pretty close to decking him.  i was really tired and not feeling too great at this point, since it was late so i told everyone goodnight and went to bed.  they kept up the draft and played some videogames and so forth til very very late.  they left early the next day. i'm really happy that they showed up, i took some pictures i'll post when i get them developed.

the next day was pretty good too, it started off slow but then we had plenty of people entering the puzzle. the nicest thing that happened to me sunday, was one of my opponents from the previous day (saturday--it was a great duel, the game swung back and forth for a while, and he managed to take it at the end.  absolutely and completely fun. he was great.)  anyways he had these extremely sparkly magenta sleeves which i admired, but he didnt remember the brand. anyways, on sunday i felt a tap on my shoulder, and looked around and there he was, with a pack of the magenta sleeves and a pack of the violet ones. he handed em to me, smiled and said 'there you go.'  it was a really nice thing to do, and now i really need to get those other two decks built so i can use them. :D

lets see.....oh! the other cool thing that happened this weekend is i got my picture in the paper.....take a look! its a localish paper and i look stupid but, still....picture in the paper!! hehe.

purity demonstrating the proper use of mystical space typhoon

hm.....i'd probably better give you some pokemon content too huh?  gloom and pk worked on the ateleier a bit, and so we have some decks here for you to look over.  take it away, gloom!

First up tonight is a deck from frequent contributor Bullados, entitled "Beatdown Revived".  It's a typical Sneasel/Scyther/Buzz hay that tries to outspeed the competition.

                                                                                        Beatdown Revived

Second up is an evo-punishing deck called Prehistoric Beam.  This one began as a deck heavily skewed towards anti-evolution, but being an
Unlimited deck, instead ends up a pseudo-Hunter.

                                                                                        Prehistoric Beam

Thanks to those who've sent in decks to the Atelier!  For those whose decks have not yet been fixed, they're finished now and will be posted
some time over the course of the week!

and i think thats about it.....while we are on the subject of gloom i'd like to thank him for helping me with the update tonight, since i can't seem to get my html program to work for some reason. so i sent him all the text and links and he formatted it for me.  if it looks a bit wonky its because we had to rig it for tonight...but at least we updated right?

see you all tomorrow, hopefully with even more news....meanwhile, look forward to an upcoming contest or two, and we hope you all have an enjoyable day.

Hey Zeo! Marril here with your daily update while Poinko, Pure, and Ech are out in Sacramento, California. If you are going to be in the Phoenix Arizona area next weekend, stop by the Paradise Valley Mall where you can meet up with Zeo's Tour Four and play a few games of Yu-Gi-Oh! IF you are not going to be in either of those places, don’t worry. Check out the official
Yu-Gi-Oh Tour schedule they may be in your backyard soon!

Pokémon-USA is getting ready to toss the Nintendo printed product out on the market. Recently Pokémon-tcg.com has been upgraded to be more of a website than a cheap relocate to an article on Nintendo.com. Players who now visit the site are assured of the fact there will be a June release of the product, Pokémon-e TCG: EX Ruby & Sapphire (the first Nintendo expansion). They also mention the fact that their product will be compatible with the currently released Wizards product… so don’t go tossing those Weedles out yet! There is also mention of updated rules, attacks, game mechanics plus the 2-on-2 battles and they will be compatible with the e-Reader… which to mention the Japanese advance cards DO NOT have an e-barcode on them… interesting? Also on the site Trainers can find the Tournament Organizers application (may 2nd wasn't the deadline it seems), and also the same Q & A that we have already read in the past… I for one can’t wait to see how well Nintendo will do to fill Wizard’s shoes with this game, they seem to have some big promises so far.

Something to mention, I was reading neowin.net the other day when I stumbled across the mention of the iLoo… the first ever internet connected portapotty. The iLoo, created by MSN (what will Microsoft think of next _) is equipped with a plasma screen and waterproof keyboard that will allow users to surf the web while they go. iLoo also comes with a security guard to be sure it doesn’t suffer from vandalism. Way to think outside the box Microsoft! ;)

Lastly today, a mention of those who where able to decode my forum signature; congratulations Freon de Glace, Andy Light Kai, Fangor, JD Gloom, Dark Poinko, Elroy, and Blurby. If you would like your name mentioned, have fun decoding my all-new signature message and send me what you get. Have a good week everyone!

friday, may X2 2003
last update: 12:30 am

well pure is off to see a midnight screening of X2, so you're all stuck with me now.... [laughs sadistically]

ech here giving you the friday update to tide you through the weekend [most likely] and we do have a lot of cool info for you! just wait and see!

....

ok, so you dont have to wait, you can take a look RIGHT NOW!

so of course we had the wizards of the coast pokemon chat last night and we found out a bit of interesting information, including a pokemon promotion put on by wendy's starting on may 19th!

now its listed as having one of 5 toys, plus 15 collectable cards. hmm.... not sure if the collectable cards are game cards or just like the ones from bk that they had a couple years ago, but i guess time will tell.

and hey! we also got a pic of the toys! lets see... we have a charizard keepsake box, a pikachu dangler and clock, a kecleon key chain, and a celebi compass. i reeeeally want that kecleon key chain tho :D

and also i know that since wizards is now done printing cards, a lot of people were wondering if the events for gencon and origins were still a go, and.. well... DONT WORRY! master trainer mike assured us that as of right now all the events are still going to happen and he has some great prizes lined up.... so if you're thinking about going, stop thinking and start planning! the hotels are filling up FAST

anyway, read the rest of the wotc chat for all your rulings needs!

marril was a busy little aquamouse pokemon today as he got the skyridge list up for us! we now have a checklist of the last wizards set... being shipped next week, by the way.

this is one massive set i tell you. there are 32 holos, 35 rares, and with the parallel foils this set weighs in at over 300 cards! @_@ very very nice set to go out with! :D

check out the full set list here and scans as soon as they start popping up!

and to finish off the update, and the week, we have a brand new equation card from poinko!

hmmm.... this card features an inside joke... but im not quite sure what it is... but it has a windmill! and it has gloomy art! um... that is art by gloom! and well.... its cool!

dont take my word for it tho...

check it out for yourself!

well, i think thats it for me! i gotta pack for this weekend... it seems like just last week at this time i was packing.... ;)

anyway if you are in the sacramento area this weekend, come say hello to pure, poinko and myself at the solano shopping town in fairfield, and wish gloom good luck who is studying hard this weekend for dreaded final exams!

last update: 2:30 am

who's going to see x2 tonight???? i am! i am! i bought tickets over the internet and i'm going to take vash with me. wow, where would we all be, without the internet. not here reading this update, thats where we wouldn't be. what an amazing thing the internet is. thank you, internet, for without you i would not be able to buy movie tickets, order skincare products, research specialty papers, look for update material and talk to my friends, all at the same time, and all without having to get off of my couch and get dressed. all thanks to the internet. the internet, and my visa card. it's everywhere i want to be.

well anyways. news! let's see. marril sent me oodles of links, i'll sort through them and see what we have....

the pokemon center in japan is currently celebrating its five year anniversary. where has the time gone? anyways, they have some exclusive commemorative merchandise....let's take a look....

like this lovely watch
or a cd full of pokemon music through the years

i don't know when or if we'll see any of this merchandise in the us pokemon center.

speaking of the pokemon center, there's a little write up of the recent spring fling ruby/sapphire tournament. i wanted to go to that....i forgot why i didn't. i had to stay at home for some reason on monday. oh! it was a work related thing. i'd have gotten creamed anyways, since the pokemon were level 50 and mine were all around 30. anyways, check it out!

battling at the pokemon center

hm what else.....eric is on an art roll now, i suppose.....yesterday blaziken and today he has a really great picture of castform, in ALL it's forms....

it's cool but it sucks in my game......

ieric isn't the only one who's been busy. poink has a new equation card for us! you know that makes you want to stand up and cheer, right?

wiggly wiggly wigg*BOFF* ..ow

you know, everyone is in the update spirit. gloom did a deck fix for us too! it's a wiggly deck sent in by blurby.

ah memories....

now you might remember marril mentioning the new hampshire challenge some time ago. well he wrote up a report on it, so go give that a read. can you believe it, all the update material we have here today? boggles the mind.

marril dishes on the nhc

any more updating and i think you probably wouldnt know what to do with it all, so we're going to cut you off here for today. but i'm sure we'll be back with plenty more tomorrow, so, no fear. i hope everyone enjoys their day, and if you want to see x2 i suggest you buy your tickets NOW. the update's over. go buy tickets NOW. see you! OH! a quick reminder....tomorrow is the DEADLINE for nintendo TO applications. send em if you've got em, and if you need em, look down at the update for friday, april 25th (angtaro day!) and you will find the link there. ok you can go buy your tickets now.
