Pure was able to find some packs of Neo4 this weekend, so we have a bunch of new scans up in the Neo4 section... a couple dozen if i'm not mistaken. IF you haven't checked out the Neo4 for a while, go do so now! Don't worry... i'll wait for you. :)

Great Rocket? What happened to Regular Rocket?

The New TCG2 for Gameboy COlor has been out in Japan for a while now, and we were finally able to get our hands on one, thanks to Zeo Forumer, RockyRacoon

Rocky has sent us the first part of the game walkthrough. Well worth the read if you're interested in getting this game. (even if it IS just for GR Mewtwo and Lugia. ^_^)

well, i was helping him test his STS Prepped deck last night... and the game took forever. He thought his 'Plume had my deck locked up (and it did) until of course i got out a Skarmory with two metal. ^_^ Kinda preventing 70 damage a turn.... let's just say the tables turned.

of course there is! I always have a point.....

The point is our favorite Anyalst is going to be at the San Jose Qualifier Today! ...and not only that, he's giving out a Zeo Editin card he made for us a few months back. Heh... that is IF YOU BEAT HIM IN A MATCH TO THE DEATH!!! ...er... i mean, if you beat him at cards. ^_^

Neo-palooza!

In case you hadn't noticed, we added about a dozen more Neo4 pics over the past few days... and i'm quite sure the card list STILL isn't complete. No one has CONFIRMED Exsistance of a Shining Steelix or Shining Water type.... but i KNOW they're just sitting there in boxes.... somewhere.

WHile auctions for Neo4 has been really scarce, we've managed to rule in a few of them and have manged to snag a Miracle Energy, Dark Tyranitar, Dark Houndoom, Dark Crobat, Dark Donphan, Dark Ampharos, as well as some various packs of cards. ^_^ That should help the cause!

Update: (2:00pm) Added 7 more Neo4 pics. We now have all the Shining Cards that have been confirmed, as well as all the holos and most of the rares.

Methinks we're a wee bit too predictable...

hmmm.... all day it seems like all i heard where 'are you gonna make a shining Raichu? Shining Raichu tonight? is raichu gonna be shining? ...and all because we didn't do a pika card last night. ^_^

Well, since the Zeo Edition IS meant to be played in a Restricted Enviroment, we kinda had no choice but to make shining, did we?

back in October, we released 'Championship blanks', to be used for Shining Pokemon.... little did we know that mediafactory would steal our idea and call it thier own. :)

So then, even since pure got her Shining Mew in Corocoro she's been working on A SUPER SECRET PROJECT™...

She really loves the sparkling effect on the shining cards,a nd she made a new back to reflect it... so here officially is the Official Zeo Shining Blanks!

I was in ChinaCorner™ yesterday (read: Calgary's Chinatown) and i came across some of those new and very rare Second Edition Rocket Cards. Ooooh...

I quickly bought a pack and low and behold i got some really cool cards... like the Electric Mewtwo with 550 HP and the Holo Electrode that has an attack that required [*][*][*][*] and does nothing....

Wanna see? Of course you do!

It was 4am and i'm starting to do the update, when Sensei calls me. Anyway, we get to talking and i'm idly surfing the web while the phone is perched under my ear...

This has GOT to be one of the COOLEST FREAKING CARDS I'VE EVER SEEN! This has got to be the rarest of the triple star of the lot because i have seen NO INFORMATION ON THIS AT ALL....

Well... you know that it's not Shining Celebi, Raichu or Kabutops... So then... it's Shining Tyranitar?

WRONG.

It's... SHINING.....

...what, and spoil the shock? ;)

okay, okay.... pick up your jaws now....

Okay, it may not be the GREATEST card... but it is certainly a shock... and remember where you saw it first. ;)

So then... on with the rest of the update... We scurried around madly last night to bring all the neo4 info we could scrounge up, and it seems to have paid off as we have a very thorough set list... 88 cards strong.... and it's not complete either! THIS IS ONE HUGE FREAKING SET!

neo 4 was released today!!!

i'm here with a late breaking news....neo4 was released today, a week ahead of schedule! and to celebrate zeo has some goodies for you. we have a pic of the new energy, miracle energy, [thanks to edo for the name], we are currently working on a card list, and if you care to zip on over to our forums, edo has very graciously posted several translations. i have several booster packs being shipped to me, and a lot of you are heading out to look for some yourself. if you are lucky enough to secure a pack or two, be an angel and send some scans to zeo! ;)

In case you missed it (like how COULD you...) the new face of Pokemon doesn't include the likes of Wiggly, Chan, Buzz, Oak and Bill. Instead they have forever (well... for 2 days) been replaced by the charming smiles of Cleffa, Gligar, Zapdos, Elm and Mary.

Unlimited it DEAD! Long live unlimited!

If memory serves me correctly, i wrote an editorial back on March 13th about the STS format... and now... rereading that editorial.... i see that i was not too far off from the final results.

It's all about the Format

wooooo.... this week's chat surpassed last weeks chat by 12 whole pages of notes. >_<

Pure stayed up much MUCH later than she should have to ensure that we get the WotC chat report up tonight.... and here it is!

As you can tell, everyone was abuzz about the new format, and tried to find ways around it.... but those cunning MTs stopped them short as per usual. Man... i really don't know how they keep their cool at times. I swear, if i were them i'd go to the firing range after the chat and unload a few rounds...

We don't have Rats in Alberta. Seriously, we don't... The Alberta government pays millions of dollars a year for a 'Rat Patrol' which goes and uh... 'deals with' any rats found in the province. I remember when Pokemon came into canada, Klein fought long and hard to get rid of the two rat pokemon, and that my friends, is why Ech has NO Rattatas and Raticates. True Story.

Okay... not quite... but the Rat Patrol is real, and Alberta is the world's largest rat free landmass.

That's it folks.... what we've been waiting for. The big STS format announcement!

In order to provide a more robust play environment, we have, as in the past, created a deck design format for the East Coast Super Trainer Showdown. That format will be as follows:

- Only Pokemon TCG cards from the following sets may be used: Team Rocket, Gym Heroes, Gym Challenge and Neo Genesis. Cards from any sets previous to these sets or from the Neo Discovery set are not permitted for deck construction.

- All Pokemon TCG promo cards may be used, with the exception of promo cards that have identical versions in Pokemon TCG card sets that are have been restricted from use. This includes all Pre-Release and foil stamped versions of these cards. (Pre-Release Clefable, Pre-Release Aerodactyl, etc.)

- Sneazel, a Pokemon from the Neo Genesis expansion cannot be played in this event.

We have removed the older sets from this environment in order to generate new deck styles and deck ideas for play. A large enough base of cards has been included to allow players to build decks without limiting the types of viable Pokemon, or removing the key cards necessary to play decks with multiple Pokemon types

The decision to remove Sneazel from this environment does not indicate that we consider the card a problem for normal constructed play. We did feel that, in this environment, Sneazel presented too strong a Pokemon choice to be ignored by skilled trainers and that he would be included in most decks. We felt this would not allow decks ideas to be fully realized, since Sneazel would be chosen as the optimal Active Pokemon. It is our belief that with the release of later sets, that Sneazel will not populate decks so fully as to curb good deck construction concepts.

Europe Gets Revenge!

Well.... in a Spurof the Moment thing, pure and i bought the Chikorita and Totodile Intopacks from Japanime last Sunday, and lo 'n behold... they were sitting at pure's doorstep this morning! (well, replace 'doorstep' with 'lobby', 'sitting there' with 'courier awaiting a tip', and 'this morning' with 'this afternoon'...)

never-the-less she got them, and we have not only the Contents of the package, but also scans of the cards! What other site has that?!

this really bites... Pure and i are working on the wotc chat and card for today when her DSL goes out.... she tried for like two hours to get it back, but sadly to no avail. :/

So unfortuantly she has the art for the card, as well as most of the notes for the WotC chat... and to make matters worse, she isn't sure right now WHEN it'll be fixed....

First it was Misty's Poliwag... and then in the new intro in japan, Ash has a Bayleef... and in this clip we have here supplied by our Anime Anyalist Sharkdog that clearly shows another evolved Pokemon... oh yeah, and brock dies...

WotC has just sweetened the pot for the STS Qualifying Tour and STS... At the STSQT all players (yes, even 15+) can earn Promo Jigglypuff or the W Stamped Dark Arbok... two very hard to find cards, especially the Arbok!

And thats not all....

The ECSTS has also announced a 'bye' format for all players! If your DCI ranking is high enough you can earn a bye to the fourth round! If your ranking is 1700-1799, you get a one round bye. 1800-1899 gives you a bypass of the first two rounds... and anything over 1900 will give you a spot right into the fourth round!

....and if that wasn't all...

if you read closely you can see a very interesting peice of info... maybe it's nothing, or maybe it's a sign for an earlier Discovery release...

The upcoming trading card game release--the Pokémon: Neo Discovery set--lets you bring the Unowns and all of their mysteries into your game and onto the playing field. Coming to a store near you May 2001!

hmmm.... well, this WAS posted after Wizards initial Discovery Press Release which states June as the release date. Heh... maybe they'll release it midnight on May 30th. :P

a couple months ago we showed you the first ever pics of the Dark ivysaur and Venusaur.... then again a few weeks ago, we showed you bigger scans...

well today... we have.... THE BIGGEST SCANS EVER.... and these are actually 50% of the scanned size! @_@. Pure was able to get these off of ebay, and they are gorgious.

In case you didn't know, the new Neo Intro packs were released on Friday, and just as the Squirtle/Bulbasaur decks, the Chikorita/Totodile ones include cards with different art, as well as exclusive cards found on in there!

now then... where does this fit into anything? well..... team hoax is not only working on a deck list as we speak... but we also managed to purchase these sets, and we'll getting SCANS of the cards asap! Coolness!

well, unfortunatly it'll be another 3 months before we can rip oen new American packs... but as we speak the finishing touches are being put on Neo4 which is set to be released on April 26th! (so if mediafactory can give a firm date months before, why can't wotc? [shrugs] just thinking outloud... last time i didn't that i got an email from a wotc employee. ^_^' )

as with before.... were DOES this fit in? well... we've done a bit of research, and have pulled together a 'set list' for Neo4! Now before you start emailing us and telling us that we're screwed in the head... this is a TENTATIVE list. We've taken what cards we KNOW from corocoro, trainer mag, as well as other sources, and then made inferences on the rest as to current trends. Actually, we're kinda curious to see how close we are. :D

oh man... we're in for it....

Looks like the Saudis have gained more support with their Anti-Islamic Pokemon Protest. The mufti of Qatar issued a statment banning Pokemon saying that they need to preserve their children, faith, morale and money.

Can we say 'taking things a bit too far?' >_<

In responce to this Nintendo issued a statement...

Alright... let's see what we can scroung up in worldly news today....

• Well, last week Saudi Arabia banned Pokemon due to it's 'questionable' images. (the colorless symbol anyone?) Anyway, it appears as tho Malasyia may follow suit, but for a different purpose. Darwin's theory of Evolution goes against it's Islamic religeon. ...anyone think that people read too much into Pokemon at times? <source>

well color me tickled pink!

coloring is probably the most important thing about a picture. Well.... aside from the actual picture itself. ^_^

anyway, pure has worked hard to bring us a tutorial on coloring Pokemon, and she even has one for us to try! It's very detailed about shading and hilighting, and my favorite... EYE SPARKLES! ^_^ It also covers hand and computer coloring. Cool!

Not too much going on in the World pokemon lately... let's see here....

• The Pokemon Movie comes out Friday along with the Entei card. Along with the Entei, you get a card promoting you to go to the league. Once there, create a Crossword Puzzles and you get a Pichu Promo! Cool huh?

• WotC has more info about Discovery on their Website. The release date is now... JUNE?!?! <sigh> Yup... another 3 months before we can rip open new boosters. Wotc also has a Contest where you can win a box of 1st ed Discovery! Coolness!

• In April Fools Fun DMTM posted the new STS format on WizPog. It's called the XYZ Format, and you're not allowed to have Pokemon with X, Y, or Z, in their names, and as errata, Ditto is now spelt Dytto. Also if you use 4 Oaks in your deck, you will be dipped in a vat of Maple Syrup, provided by the canadian players. Hmmm.. so THATS why they asked me to bring that...

• Forum Mod AngurisNeo like the sound 'IX' like Onix and Steelix. "they make a very satisfying sound" So WHY am i putting this? Because it's 3AM and he suggested it and it sounds pretty funny.... at least at 3am. ^_^

yesterday we finish the Zeo Edition with Celebi and we get a letter from WotC asking us to close Zeo as it's a conflict of interest due to the fake cards here.

"...it has come to our attention that on your website Pokemon Zeo (http://www.sugarshock.net/zeo/index.html) you create fake Pokemon TCG cards, as well as show others how to create them..."

"...please cease and desist all operations of this manner immediately or else we may have to persue further action..."

I must say that this really came as a shock, but we have to respect the Wishes of WotC as they do hold the English rights to pokemon.

Thank you everyone for making Zeo what it's become. We still have today's update posted below for you to enjoy.

oh come on!

you didn't beleive that did you? I'm sorry if i gave you a heart attack or something, but come on... it's April 1st! the one day of the year when i can (theoretically) do this!

Anyway, Pokemon Zeo IS allowed to continue operations, as in fact people from WotC have come and said that we do a great job and to keep it up.

a date that will live in infamy

April first... definatly a day to remember. April first was the day that pure and i became friends.

Yup! one year ago today Pure held a contest at Sugarshock, and i was the only one that showed (easiest pack of neo i've gotten...) and we went from there.

And as if that wasn't enough, April 1st is also the one year anniversary of the 'official' sugarshock. That was the day when Pure released her new updated version with content.

Well, it's one year later, and pure has put in a lot of work in order to get Sugarshock Version 3 up! It has a spiffy new layout and a ton of new stuff! Go check it out... i'll wait here until you get back.
