Proc Said:  I was handed this deck and decklist. Wow, you can just imagine all the advice I gave on this one. But just for fun, I thought I'd post it anyway. Poor guy was wondering why he wasn't getting anywhere, only winning a few battles against grass decks.

Gloom Said:  Well, this basically needs the standard overhaul.  The Pokemon are unfocused, which basically means I get to choose what I want to focus on!  :D  The Typhlosions and Charizards are all very difficult to use, but they’re also very difficult to get, compared to the Flareon, so, we’re going to go with that.  We’re going to run it with a healthy dose of Promo Magmar as a cleanup hitter, and the whole deck will run in a very interesting swarm/notswarm vein if it works properly.  We’re also going to kick in another Cleffa, and some Pichu to take care of Entei Cargo and a few other pesky decks.

The Energy will be lowered.  No need for 25 once we have a…

…proper drawing engine!  That’s right, 3 Elm, a Trader, and 2 Elm’s training won’t do it.  We need 4 Elm, and 4 Copycat to stay competitively quick.  Since this deck is mostly basics, and your one evo can evolve itself quite effectively, we’re going to opt out of the usual 3-4 Trader in favor of a couple Pokemon Fan Club.  The Energy Restore, Breeders, and Balloon Berries can all be turfed.  So can Moo-Moo Milk, it’s just a terrible card.  We’re going to add in some board control, and some more effective healing, in the form of Focus Band and perhaps another Gold Berry.

So, let’s see what it looks like:

Prismatic Fire: Gloom’s Fix

16 pokemon

4 Promo Magmar
4 Eevee (discovery)
3 light Flareon
3 Cleffa
2 Pichu

31 trainers

4 Elm
4 Copycat / Oak’s Research (up to you)
2 Pokemon Fan Club
4 Focus Band
4 Double Gust
2 Switch
2 Switch
2 Town Volunteers
4 ER2
3 Energy Stadium

13 Fire Energy

There.  It’s not a perfect, tournament-winning level deck, but it’s cheap as all heck to make, will run fast, and simply, and provide a good starting point from which you can further your learning.  Thanks for sending it in for the builder, Proc!
