Gloom said: No dice. There’s no possible way a deck can be fixed with thirty psychic cards, including energy. It ain’t gonna happen. I’ll respect the no Tyrogue request… but thirty of any single type is basically insane, even in evolution decks. Ideally, you’ll barely even have thirty slots in this deck occupied by Pokemon/trainers. The Mew are gone. Flat out, in Unlimited, there is no such thing as a benched Pokemon with tons of energy. This is Mean Look bait. The Rocket’s Mewtwo is gone simply because it just isn’t a great card, and brings little to no synergy to the deck. We’ll keep three of the movie promo mewtwo – given Warp Energy, this card is actually playable again. All your eevee will change over to the promo – you have trainers to get your evolutions into your hand. Or at least, you will by the time I’m finished with this deck. The light Dragonair line is also gone – it just doesn’t fit here. In return, we’ll be adding in three Cleffa, a pair of Pichu to tech Slowking, and I’ll tinker around a bit to make the deck more Umbreon-centric. If I had it my way, I’d run the deck straight Umbreon, since Mewtwo will allow us to SER with impunity and thus keeping energy OFF the opponent will become a major habit, destroying the effectiveness Espeon. But, we’ll leave a token two espeon. I’m also going to put in a few Murkrow, to capitalize on Dark and Rainbow Energy, and to exploit the weakness opponent’s will be facing as a result of energy starvation. The Energy needs help. Twenty-three Psychic Energy does indeed need an explanation, and a very grave one at that. ;D We’re going to put in four rainbow, three dark, two recycle, three warp, and two psychic. And that, in my opinion, is a bit high. You can work it down a bit as you get experience with the deck. The trainers need to be brought into the main stream. Every deck needs Oak, unless you’re using a handbuilding strategy. Your computer searches will stay, and virtually everything else will be relieved of its duty. In their place will come Professor Elm, Item Finder, Super Energy Removal, Energy Removal, and Gust of Wind, probably with a splash of Nightly Garbage Run, Energy Charge, and Switch. Here we go! Black Wave: Gloom’s Sledgehammer Fix Pokemon: 20
Trainers: 26
Energy: 14
There. That should run pretty smoothly. It would do even better if you tossed the two Espeon, but keep them for now, and test it out. I think you’ll be liking your Mewtwos, Murkrows, and Umbreons far, far more though, and once you do, feel free to toss the Espeon for two more trainer slots. That will make a surprisingly large difference in your deck’s performance. You had a good set of ideas, but your problem was too many of them – focus on the ones that complement eachother, and then do them really well instead of doing a whole lot of things poorly. You also needed a total trainer overhaul – it’ll feel odd at first, but keep playing with it and you’ll find your deck far, far faster. Don’t be afraid to oak away a bunch of cards – it’s a necessity some times, and you can always use Item Finder, Energy Charge, or Nightly Garbage Run to get them back. Thanks for sending the deck in!
