I bet you guys didn't expect to see good old Fox the Sharkdog do something for the community again, some of you might remember the cozy little Zeo News corner I had a while ago, but because of those big corporate take overs, it got lost in the mail. Anyway, I'm still a staffer and as long as I keep getting paid, I'll be happy.
Ech: ....But you don't get paid at all....
I knew there was a bump in the road somewhere.. darn.. oh well...
Anyway, I'm here to write a little report on the Pokémon Anime, from the depth of my heart, and with the power of my own, free will. [Glares at Ech]
Now then, gather round kids, because today we will be analyzing the Pokémon lineups of everybody's favorite pokégang. Since the Johto League alot of changes have been ocurring in their lineups, and we will be looking at their current lineups, effective as of the last episode shown in Japan. Lets make a small list of Pokemon shall we? Here we have Ash, Pokémon trainer aiming to be a Pokémon Master, His belt currently consists of Pikachu, Bayleef, Cyndaquil, Noctowl and Totodile. And he has Muk, Kingler, a herd of Tauros, and Heracross, safely stored under Professor Oak and Tracey's care back in Pallet Town. Now why does he only have 5 Pokémon on his belt? And where did Bulbasaur go? I'll get into that later. Then secondly, we have Misty, ex-Gym leader, who just loves water Pokémon. Her belt contains Staryu, Goldeen, Psyduck, Poliwhirl, Togepi and Corsola, well, Togepi isn't exactly held in a Pokéball, but still. The newest addition to her team to be Corsola, the coral type Pokémon. She has a nice full belt of 6 Pokémon, and there's not really anything to add to her, now is there? Then last but not least, we have Brock, the rock, also an ex-Gym leader, wanting to be god's gift to women, and also to be worlds best Pokémon breeder. His belt is filled with Onix, Geodude, Pineco and Crobat. He has the least Pokémon of the three, but he still has some cool ones. Now, where does Phanpy fit in? (Phanpy was aquired from a Pokémon egg, in last weeks episode in the land of the rising sun, Japan) Ofcourse if any of you reading this lives in Japan, or is able to watch TV Tokyo, at extremely strange times (time difference, bleh) you could email me and tell me to whom Phanpy belongs to. Myself I would say Brock, he's a rock type trainer, but he also could do with some fighting types if you ask me, theyre just his type of Pokémon in my opinion. Now, if Phanpy is Brock's, then why exactly does Ash have 5 Pokémon in his party, while still having enough Pokémon back in Pallet, to fill it up. And where did Bulbasaur, our favorite original starter Pokémon (at least, mine =P), go to? If Phanpy is Brock's, then the mostly likely thing that has happend, is that Ash, the fool, as released Bulbasaur into the wild, or given him away to someone, which he tends to do. Again, anyone reading this, who has seen the episodes, please email me and shed some light on this, and make this little report a useless waste of cyberspace. If Ash has given Bulbasaur away, this can mean only one thing, soon, real soon, Ash will be getting a new Pokémon. Or perhaps, Phanpy is owned by Ash? What happend to Bulbasaur then? If this is the case, we fall onto two options now, instead of one. In this case, he either gave Bulbasaur away, or, he has sent the little green critter to be cared for by Professor Oak and Tracey (Just like his Heracross, Kingler, Muk and his herd of Taurus). If there was an episode before the Phanpy episode last week in which he gave Bulbasaur his freedom back, then the facts speak for them selves, Bulbasaur is not anymore to be seen. If there was no note to this ever prior to the episode where they obtain a Phanpy, then its most likely that Bulbasaur has gone under Oak and Tracey's care. But what if he traded Bulbasaur, for the egg? Well, I think that even Ash would never do this, he cares for Bulbasaur way too much to trade him for an egg, of which he doesn't even know what it will contain, so this option was deleted in my mind immediatly. If there is anyone who can shed some light on this problem, please email me, we'd all like to find out.
Now I want to get into two other induviduals, namely, Jesse and James, the losers of Team Rocket, but still, cool characters in the anime. These two are very low on Pokémon. With Jesse only having Arbok and Wobbuffet, and James to have Weezing and Victreebel, and Meowth owning himself, they are always outclassed and outnumbered. But! It's very, very likely that they will be getting a new Pokémon soon, namely, Delibird. As next weeks episode (in Japan) will be called, roughly translated, "It's Team Rocket, they're with Delibird?!". As always, TV Tokyo presents us with a little preview clip of next weeks episode (the clips aren't to write home about, they're bad quality and without sound, but they help. This weeks clip shows Team Rocket talking about how much Pokémon the twerps have (yes! Thats Team Rocket slang! =P) and how much Pokémon they have (which is visualized too, and with 16 Pokémon against 5 Pokémon, the odds don't look very good). The episode focuses on Team Rocket being beaten again, and they come to the conclusion that they're always outnumbered, a conclusion they could have made a while ago really. So they look at the body of the group, two humans, and 5 Pokémon, of which one has nearly no fighting experience, because he decided to spend his time to learn to talk. And with that little group, they always fail, so they're kinda set on getting more Pokémon for once, instead of hunting the twerp's Pikachu. And seeing the episode title, and the little focus on Team Rocket, our two heroes, err, villains, will be gaining a new Pokémon as of next week. But, who will be getting it, Jesse? Or James? I think James will get it, just from the fact that Jesse was the last one that got a new Pokémon, so now it's James' turn, but with Jesse's leading temper, it could also be her, so this riddle shall only be solved by watching the next episode, which I won't be able to.
Now, as a New Years treat, I would go into the Pokémon lineups of the three new heroes from the thundering New Years Eve special featuring Raikou, but I have no idea which Pokémon Kenta, Marina and Shunichi have, besides the ones seen (The ones that I can confirm, are that Kenta has a Typhlosion, Marina has a Misdreavus, and Shunichi probably has a Beedrill, which could also be Kenta's). Before I end this little report, I want to lay down a speculation on which Pokémon the new Team Rocket agents might have with them. I'll start with Bashou, he looks pretty mysterious, I guess his extremely light blue hair color does that for him, and he's working with the communication part of the Crystal System too, so I'm guessing he'll either be carrying Psychic type Pokémon, or Water type Pokémon, or both (i.e. Starmie perhaps?). Then we have Buson, who looks tough, who is tough actually, he's a Rocket Construction Team worker, a high classed one I think, since he gets to work on the Crystal System, with his looks, I'd say he has Fighting type Pokémon, like Machoke and Machamp, and maybe some Rock types too, those are the two types that are fit for a construction worker. And don't mistake him for the stereotypical big bad and strong dumb guy, because dumb he is not, his description actually states that he's pretty smart, I guess that's why he's high classed. Then last but not least we have the genius Doctor Shiranui, Team Rocket's most prized scientist, and ofcourse, developer of the Crystal System. Relating back to the games a little, scientists always had Electric type Pokémon, so I will keep my guess shallow here and say that Doc. Shiranui will probably have, Electric type Pokémon.
With this I conclude my report, I hope you guys enjoyed it, and if you have any comments on anything, want to clarify some things, or just want to compliment me. You can email me at Sharkdog@sugarshock.net. and make sure to check out Anime Invasion on the zeo forums. Fox the Sharkdog, signing out =P
